50 Portraits – Gemma Dunne
As well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of Chethams School of Music, one of the aims of the 50 Portraits series is to create a series of contemporary portraits of classically trained musicians. With limited time and space for many of the shoots, it’s been important to be able to shoot quickly and creatively.
Gemma Dunne, viola player with the Halle, was shot at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester at the end of 2018. With an idea already in mind for the shoot, the final image was lit and shot in minutes, making use of one of the plain walls within the auditorium for the backdrop.
Gemma’s image along with 11 other portraits will be on display at the Stoller Hall, Manchester later this month as the first part of the 50 Portraits exhibition.
