Gabriella Swallow | Cellist

I first met cellist Gabriella Swallow when she performed across the opening weekend of Stoller Hall in Manchester. The best way to describe her is as a combination of big talent, big personality and a big smile. When 50 Portraits was coming together, she was definitely someone that I wanted to include. Originally we planned for a portrait shoot in London but circumstances meant that we weren’t able to get together then. We eventually managed to find 20 minutes where we were able to catch up with each other in Manchester and some of the results are below. The image with Gabi on the roof was chosen to be part of the 50 Portraits exhibition celebrating 50 years of Chethams School of Music.

Like many musicians, Gabi should currently be on tour (with Rob Brydon) whilst she is unable to tour, she is still performing and details of her work and her musical postcards can be found at https://www.gabriellaswallow.com/news/2020/3/24/musical-postcards
