During the EET Turnaround, sections of the site are undergoing extensive maintenance. As the turnaround was coming to a close, I was asked to come in and take a group photograph of one of the large teams, that had been working on site.
The brief was to come in, organise over a hundred team members and take a photograph of them. That photograph was also to take in the location where they had been working. Just to add into that mix, in the minimum time possible.

In order to do this as quickly as possible, it meant that preparation was key. Some factors were couldn’t be taken into account until the day, such as weather and final location. Whilst I had a rough idea of where I was going to shoot, I didn’t know until the day. As it was, the day of the shoot turned out to be exceptionally sunny – great say some. Not so great when you need to have people looking up at the camera who might be squinting. Another issue was that strong sunlight leads to strong shadows, so we had to make sure that the group were positioned so that we didn’t have some people overexposed and some underexposed. So there was some speedy shuffling about to make sure that didn’t happen as more people added into the group.

It has to be said, the team and staff were great. I had a set arrangement in my head for the group, so we were able to get everyone into position quickly. Everyone was amazing in following instructions. We also just managed to get away with the tricky lighting set up that we had. Main result below.
