North Clwyd Animal Rescue

As animal lovers and dog owners, volunteer work at an animal rescue isn’t exactly a tough one for us. We first came across North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) through some editorial work we were doing for a rather large and well known pet shop. Following on from that we kept in touch and when we can, we go across the border to Wales and photograph some of the beauties they have staying with them.

NCAR currently has over 80 dogs as well as cats, rabbits and horses. Whilst the animals are very much loved in their care whilst waiting for their forever homes, sadly, there is a very long list of animals waiting to come to the rescue centre.

If like us you are unable to take in an additional furball into the house (we already have two), there are several ways you can help your local animal rescue.

Firstly check in with your local animal rescue centre and see if there is anything they need that you can help them with. It might be toys, food, bowls even just some snacks.

Volunteering, there is always a dog to be walked and funds to be raised, maybe you can help out with that.

You can also help by following “adopt don’t shop” rule if you are considering getting a dog. If adopting doesn’t work for you (and it doesn’t for everyone and there is no shame in that) and you are still looking for a dog, you can also help by making sure that if you do get one, that it is suitable for you, your home and your family. They are a commitment, they do take a lot of care and love and yes, they are worth every minute. Please don’t just take one because you fancy the idea of it or because your friend has one, it’s not like internet shopping, you can’t just take it back to the Post Office with a returns label on it.

All the dogs in this post are currently looking for love and a forever home. If you feel you could help provide one, please contact North Clwyd Animal Rescue https://ncar.org.uk
